To the HubPages staff, I have received ugly and obscene comments emailed to me via HubPages

by a new hubber. To report them to HubPages do I need to do more than click on the abuse link at the bottom of the emails?

I'm sad to hear that. We should respect each others uniqueness.

It would be nice if there was more acceptance and toleration. I often have to delete such comments and continue forward. I do not try to engage them when it is apparent that they are wanting to vent rather than rationally address some concern. This is part of the price tag of free speech. Some people will use it to be abusive.

It is sad that people stoop to such levels. In my case, most of those who are abusive toward my hubs are not members of the hub community. Mainly outsiders who just stop in, drop off their bombs and move on.

I wish you the best in dealing with those pesky comments.

When you receive obscene emails from another registered user, you can contact us at http://hubpages.com/contact_us, and we will take appropriate action.  In this case, I have banned the user concerned.

If you receive emails from an unregistered person through HubPages, you should hit the "abuse" button on the email and we will automatically record the complaint.

Thank you all for your responses.  Thank you to the HubPages staff and Maddie Ruud for their swift action.  I can handle a healthy debate and even disagreement.  These comments were neither.  It is good to know that HubPages stands behind us. Thanks!

I would copy and paste into an email and send directly to team @hubpages because they can go back in and track it and slap the person around! (figuratively speaking)

That is horrible, disgusting, and frightening - all in the same breath!

I hope you got it resolved!  The beauty of the internet  - sometimes can be a bad thing along with the good.

..that is uncalled for and not very nice.   I have an old adage - if you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all.    I always try to promote and encourage diplomacy and goodwill even if it's through humor - and another old saying of mine - there's a 100 different ways to be positive and make a point but there's only one way to be rude - and we all know about that one!
